One of the best things about getting fit after 50 is that you don’t need a gym. You don’t need expensive equipment either. All you need is a screen and an internet connection – and YouTube delivers some genuinely excellent fitness content aimed directly at our age group.
I’ve spent time exploring what’s out there, and the quality has genuinely surprised me. So here are my top 10 YouTube fitness channels for the over-50s, ranked by subscriber count.
🚶 1. Walk at Home by Leslie Sansone
With nearly 5 million subscribers, this is one of the biggest fitness channels on YouTube – and for good reason. Leslie Sansone specialises in indoor walking workouts that suit all fitness levels. Her style is warm, encouraging and easy to follow. As a result, this channel works particularly well for anyone just getting back into exercise after a long break. No equipment needed, and very little space required.
💃 2. Fabulous50s
This channel targets women over 50 specifically, and it covers a wide range of routines – from low-impact cardio to strength training. The host brings real energy to every video, and her instructions are clear and easy to follow. Because the workouts are designed with older joints in mind, you can push yourself without worrying about unnecessary strain.
🏃 3. Pahla B Fitness
Pahla focuses on three things: weight loss, strength and balance – all areas that matter enormously after 50. Her approach is refreshingly moderate. Rather than pushing you to exhaustion, she emphasises consistency and sustainability. In addition, she caters to a wide range of fitness levels, so beginners and more experienced exercisers alike will find something useful here.
🩺 4. HT Physio – Over-Fifties Specialist Physio
This channel takes a physiotherapy-based approach, and that makes it stand out from the rest. The focus is on mobility, balance and strength – particularly for those dealing with pain or recovering from injury. Therefore, if you have specific physical limitations, this is an excellent place to start. The content helps older adults stay independent and move more freely in daily life.
🌟 5. Senior Fitness with Meredith
Meredith has built a warm, welcoming channel that covers everything from seated exercises to low-impact cardio and strength work. Her manner is calm and encouraging, which makes it easy to stay motivated even on low-energy days. Furthermore, she tailors her routines specifically to seniors, so the pacing and intensity always feel appropriate.
🪑 6. SeniorShape Fitness
SeniorShape offers a solid mix of seated exercises, light cardio and strength training. The instructor provides modifications throughout each video, which means you can scale the workout up or down depending on how you feel that day. As a result, this channel works well for a wide range of abilities, including those returning to exercise after illness or injury.
👨⚕️ 7. Eldergym Fitness for Seniors
Physical therapist Doug Schrift runs this channel, and his professional background shows in the quality of the content. Every exercise prioritises safety and proper form. In particular, the mobility and balance work is excellent – exactly the kind of training that helps prevent falls and maintain independence. If you want expert-led workouts you can trust, this is a great choice.
⚡ 8. Body Coach TV
Joe Wicks brings his trademark enthusiasm to a range of workouts, including sessions aimed at seniors. His energy is infectious, and his instructions are always clear. However, some of his general content moves at a faster pace, so look specifically for his lower-impact and senior-focused videos to get the most out of the channel at our age.
🪑 9. Sit and Be Fit
This channel is unique because every workout happens in a chair. Registered nurse Mary Ann Wilson hosts the programme, and she focuses entirely on functional fitness – the kind of movement that makes daily life easier and safer. Consequently, this channel is ideal for anyone with limited mobility, balance concerns, or those recovering from a health setback. The exercises are gentle, effective and easy to follow at home.
💪 10. HASfit
HASfit stands for Heart and Soul Fitness, and the channel lives up to that name. It offers full-length workout videos across all fitness levels, including a dedicated section for seniors and those seeking low-impact options. The routines cover strength, flexibility and cardiovascular health – in other words, everything we need to stay vital and active as we get older.
🏁 Where to Start
With so many good options, it can feel overwhelming to choose. My suggestion is simple – pick one channel that matches your current fitness level and commit to it for two weeks before exploring others. Consistency matters far more than variety when you’re building a new habit.
As always, check with your GP before starting any new exercise programme, especially if you have existing health conditions.
